Hello Kitty as a mark of shame for Thai police

art.hello.kitty.afp.gi.jpg

Ok, this has nothing to do with kids or babies or parenting, but I just read this and it made me laugh and laugh and laugh. Police in Thailand who commit minor misdemeanors and break rules such as littering or tardiness will be forced to wear Hello Kitty armbands as a mark of shame because Hello Kitty is not something that "macho police officers want covering their biceps", especially Hello Kitty sitting atop 2 hearts.

The acting chief of the Crime Suppression Division says that simple warnings have no effect and these armbands are expected to whip the cops in shape by shaming them with Hello Kitty. They aren't expected to wear them in public, however, but only in the office. I say if you're gonna do it, you should go all the way and have the officers wear the armbands in public, preferably with other Hello Kitty paraphernalia.

From CNN.
